Rockstar Games is hinting an announcement for the next “Red Dead Redemption” game. Fans of the western open-world franchise went ecstatic after the studio posted a cryptic image online.
Over the weekend, Rockstar Games sent out an artwork of its logo on social media. The Rockstar emblem was draped in black and red instead of the traditional black and yellow.
The wordless promotional has led many to believe that “Red Dead Redemption 2” is on the horizon. Fans have been waiting six long years for any news on the highly-anticipated sequel.
If in fact Rockstar is teasing an announcement for “Red Dead Redemption 2,” fans can expect a reveal trailer before the year ends. The studio has a knack for announcing games at unexpected times.
“Grand Theft Auto V” was announced on October 25, 2011. Rockstar debuted its reveal trailer a week later. It would take another two years before the game was officially released worldwide.
If the studio’s release history is any indication, “Red Dead Redemption 2” won’t arrive until 2018. Some gaming experts believe Rockstar’s next big offering is a remastered version of the original 2010 game.
According to IGN, the latest ad campaign could be pertaining to the re-release of “Red Dead Redemption” for current-gen consoles and PC. The game was recently included on the Xbox One backwards compatibility program.
A remastered version of “Red Dead Redemption” would arrive much sooner than Red Dead Redemption 2, according to a report from International Business Times. The re-release of “Grand Theft Auto V” was made available on PS4 and Xbox One five months after it was announced at E3 2014. PC gamers had to wait until April 2015 as Rockstar needed more time to polish the game’s desktop version.
