In this NBA news report, Miami Heat started their seven-game home journey at home on Sunday donning a new jersey with a military theme. Their on-court attitude reflected the mantra “Home Strong” written on their shirts. Heat outplayed Raptors in the second half to notch up a 96-76 win.

Hassan Whiteside posted 20 points and 11 rebounds and Chris Bosh, a former Raptor, returned with a match-high 23 points to lead Miami on Sunday night. Heat finished the third quarter 30-16, and their reserves did everything right to shut down any possibility of Toronto Raptor’s comeback in the final quarter with a 18-3 run.
“We fully understand the importance of the next 10 days,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said after winning the first of the seven home games.
He also added, “That was really inspiring basketball in the second half, I think the second unit really sparked the energy of the entire team and everybody fed off that defensive energy.”
Veteran star Dwyane Wade scored 12 points, and Tyler Johnson added 10 more to the winners tally. A sold-out home crowd witnessed the 250th consecutive home game including playoffs.
Jonas Valanciunas continued his good form with 17 points for the Raptors. DeMar DeRozan added 16 and Kyle Lowry scored 15 but couldn’t prevent Raptors’ 11th loss in the last 12 visits at Miami. Toronto now return with 2-2 record from its four game away tour.
Chris Bosh now has a 12-0 win record against his former side.
“I just like how hard they’re playing,” Bosh said. “They’re scrapping. And that’s what it’s about.”
