Lines from Beyonce’s new single, “Sorry” had fans guessing if it actually referred to Jay Z’s cheating. An Instagram post from a woman alleged to be “too close” to the rapper now just intensified the rumors.
The popular diva caused a stir when she released some of her new singles which obviously focused on adultery. In one of the songs, “Sorry”, she had repeatedly referred to an unfaithful partner. According to Page Six, the line that caused a stir was “He only want me when I’m not there. He better call Becky with the good hair.”
Just after the release of the song, fashion designer Rachel Roy posted a photo of herself with a gal pal on Instagram. She captioned the photo, “Good hair don’t care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. Live in the light #nodramaqueens.” Since her social media account was in public setting then, many fans had seen her post and speculated that she was the “Becky with the good hair” that Queen Bey was referring to on “Sorry”.
As reported by Page Six, one follower wrote, “I think we found Becky!’’ Since then Roy’s account was shifted from public to private and the controversial post was deleted.
The fashion designer was the former spouse of Jay Z’s old business partner, Damon Dash. He worked with the famous rapper on his Roc- a- Fella Records and Rocawear clothing line. However, in 2005, Jay Z bought out Dash’s share on Rocawear.
With these speculations, the controversial elevator scene of power couple Jay Z with Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles that took place in 2014 is currently being rehashed. In the said video, Solange punched and kicked her brother- in- law in an elevator at the Standard Hotel during a Met Gala after- party in 2014.
According to the Daily News, the reason why Solange attacked Jay Z was because he was getting “too close” to Roy at the party. A source said, “Rachel is a little too close to Jay Z,” and added that the Knowles sister does not like it.
Beyonce remained silent about the elevator incident when it came out. With her new lyrics however, she seemed to imply that she had been cheated on. In her “Sorry” track she declared, “Looking at my watch, he shoulda been home. Today I regret the night I put that ring on. He always got them f—king excuses. I pray to the Lord you reveal what his truth is.”
