What's This?

Alien: Covenant, the sequel to Ridley Scott’s stellar sci-fi horror Prometheus, will be “much scarier” according to actor Michael Fassbender. Expectations around the sequel is already high, especially after the crew started sharing intriguing images from the set.

Fassbender is the only cast member from the Prometheus who will return for the sequel. He will reprise the role of David, the sole survivor from the prequel who will be discovered by the new exploration crew of the ship called covenant on the extra-terrestrial land.

In a recent interview with Collider, the actor said that the upcoming Alien: Covenant will include many elements from the original Alien and be much scarier than its prequel.

“This Alien is going to be… I’m very excited to see it and everybody in the film was saying this is a film that we all want to see,” he said. “It’s much scarier than Prometheus but it’s got the same sort of scope of Prometheus.”

He added, “It’s kind of got more of the sort of thriller, imminent disaster feel that Alien had, so it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I’m really excited to see it, I think it’s gonna be super scary number one and then again with the massive scope of Prometheus… Once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it doesn’t let up. It’s really gonna bring chills to the cinema.”

In the case of Prometheus, there was a great deal of excitement around it as well, but the movie failed to live up to expectations. However, that wasn’t much to erode off the fans’ interests from the franchise altogether.

The Cinema Blend reported that the concept of “imminent disaster” is that what made Alien a huge success. The idea that horrific extra-terrestrial beings could be lurking around any corner and brutally kill the characters created a feeling of trepidation and horror. Alien: Covenant is trying to bring the same feel by incorporating some of the hair-raising sequences.
