According to Express UK, an iron bar fell on the head of the 46-year-old actor while filming a scene for his character Lincoln Burrows, the brother of Wentworth Miller’s Michael Scofield.
He was then rushed to a hospital in Morocco where he was treated after sustaining injuries. He received stitches on his head, cuts on his forehead and two fractures on his nose.
However, despite what happened, the actor continued to display a happy stance, based on his Instagram posts about the accident on the set of “Prison Break” season 5.
“I’m good. #thanksforsupport … Had a little accident on set,” he wrote. “Haha! Back at work asap. Pays to have a thick skull when an iron bar falls on your #head!! busting it open severely also broke my nose in two places.”
He even joked about getting a free nose job after what happened.
“Stoked to be alive. All good. #chill. Oh. I didn’t get knocked out took a knee,” Purcell said in a separate post describing his condition following the “Prison Break” season 5 filming accident. “Ha!! Doc said I have an unusually tough tissue fiber that’s what saved me apparently. Thank god for my #Viking heritage hahaha!!!!”
After a while, he posted another message, “What do u do when you escape the #grimreaper and lose 12 pounds in the desert? Well life goes on with or without.”
Amid the mishap that Purcell faced while filming, Movie News Guide reported that this did not affected the show since it is still running according to its schedule.
The news site further revealed that in the upcoming season of the Fox TV serial drama, the plot will focus on the lost memories of Scofield, with his son playing a big role for his anticipated recovery.
