Prince’s death on Thursday was not the first time that his ex-wife Mayte Garcia wept about after losing a dear man.

According to Radar Online, the former couple lost their son a few days after he was born some two decades ago.

Amid the fact that the two celebrities were mum about it, the entertainment site pointed out that the rock star surely considered it a “devastating personal tragedy.”

The report further claimed that, probably as a way of avoiding despair and utmost sorrow, the family of the “Purple Rain” singer decided not to report it to the authorities anymore.

Based on the account of former Paisley Park employees, Arlene and Erlene Mojica, Prince and his former wife allegedly “took the newborn off the respirator.”

“I cannot continue living with everything I have in my heart and my mind,” Erlene reportedly told the then London newspaper News of the World. “I cannot sleep because I can just hear him. I have all these nightmares all the time, just thinking about the baby.”

However, a Minnesota medical examiner revealed that Boy Gregory, born on Oct. 23, 1996, died of “natural causes,” relating to Pfeiffer syndrome type 2, a skeletal abnormality.

In the meantime, following the death of the music icon, Mayte Garcia shared with People how devastated she was upon learning that Prince was already dead.

“I can’t even think of the words of what I’m feeling,” she said in a statement released through her manager Gladys Gonzalez. “This man was my everything, we had a family.”

“I am beyond deeply saddened and devastated,” added the woman who was his inspiration in coming up with the song “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World.”

The 42-year-old singer and actress also narrated that he will always love the “Around the World in a Day” artist.

“I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally,” Mayte Garcia said about Prince. “He’s with our son now.”
