Prince Harry on having kids and settling down
“There come times when you think now is the time to settle down, or now is not, whatever way it is, but I don’t think you can force these things it will happen when it’s going to happen,” Prince Harry told Sky News in an exclusive interview.
“Of course, I would love to have kids right now, but there’s a process that one has to go through and… tours like this are great fun,” he said.
“Hopefully I’m doing alright by myself. It would be great to have someone else next to me to share the pressure. But, you know, time will come and whatever happens, happens,” the prince said.
For the meantime, he will have to share with the joy that Prince William felt when Princess Charlotte came along. He said he is looking forward to meet Prince Charlotte.
“I didn’t see any coverage at all. He (Prince William) sent me two photos; one before everybody else, which was nice, and then another – one with her back with George back home. I’m so looking forward to seeing her, to meeting her and to holding her,” the Prince said of his newborn niece.
Prince Harry at a cross roads
Prince Harry also confessed that he has decided to leave the military because he is at the crossroads at the moment.
“A lot of guys my age, when they get to captain, they leave, and that’s because a lot of guys join for the outside, for the excitement of running around in the bush with soldiers and there is a point when you have to take the next step and go to a desk and do staff college and become a major and so on. And with all that comes responsibilities and a lot of your time, which, if I’m doing this sort of stuff, it doesn’t work. I don’t want people to cover for me,” the prince said.
Prince Harry sees former matron after a long time
Meanwhile, Prince Harry had the opportunity to see a former matron who was close to him when he was younger. His face lit up with instant recognition when he saw Vicki McBratney among the crowd waiting for him in New Zealand, The Press reported. The prince is in the country for an eight-day tour.
“Hello! Nice to see you, how are you? Nice to see you, are you alright?” the prince asked McBratney while landing kisses on her cheeks.
He then shook the hand of each of her children and her husband. He also accepted a photo souvenir of them taken more than 18 years ago.
McBratney told The Press she was happy Prince Harry recognized her.
“I’m so glad the kids met him. And he remembered me which was really nice,” McBratney said.
