Noting that Donald Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, was not in attendance for the event, President Barack Obama said he was hurt as he noticed that they had fun in the previous year’s gathering.
“Is this dinner too tacky for the Donald?” the president asked, adding, “Is he at home eating a Trump steak, tweeting out insults to Angela Merkel?”
Also, Barack Obama highlighted that Donald Trump can be good at closing Guantanamo Bay, saying, “Trump knows a thing or two about running waterfront properties into the ground.”
Stressing that the media played a big role in making Donald Trump popular, President Barack Obama took a shot at them by pointing at the media people doing the coverage and said, “I hope you’re happy.”
But the president did not make any exception to other presidentiables.
He noted that Bernie Sanders is more appealing to the young generation than Hilary Clinton, whom he compared as a relative signing up on Facebook, a report from Vanity Fair said.
Despite this, President Barack Obama hinted his support for Hilary Clinton.
He said, “Next year, someone else will be standing in this very spot, and it’s anyone’s guess who she will be.”
The president also mentioned Kendall Jenner who was sitting in the audience by saying that he is not sure what she exactly does but he knows his Twitter mentions for him are “to go through the roof.”
Lastly, President Barack Obama said that as political leaders anticipate his goodbye for presidency, he noted one good example of this by saying, “Last week, Prince George showed up to meet me in his bathrobe. That was a slap in the face.”
