What's This?

LG is expected to showcase a new smartphone this Mobile World Congress 2016 after it announced the release of the LG Stylus 2 model. Furthermore, the company is also expected to release other units like the LG G5 flagship and LG X Series.

LG Electronics just announced the release of the LG Stylus 2 during the MXW 2016 in Barcelona, Spain. According to the company, the device is an improved sequel to the LG G4 Stylus. More importantly, the company also called the Stylus 2 as an “exceptionally-priced” 5.7-unch handset that offers premium features similar to the company’s other flagship models. Nonetheless, it will also be featuring a pen complete with a nano-coated tip that offers better accuracy than previously rubber-tipped pens.

“The device features a set of proprietary functions developed specifically for the LG Stylus 2 to enhance the user experience such as Pen Pop, which toggles a popup menu when the stylus is removed to offer shortcuts to Pop Memo and Pop Scanner. Also new to LG Stylus 2 is Pen Keeper, which prevents the stylus from being misplaced by displaying a popup message when the phone is detected as being in motion when the stylus bay is empty. What’s more, the new Calligraphy Pen font allows one to write as beautifully and decoratively as if using a fountain pen,” explained LG in its official statement.

Other features of the device include 7.44mm thin build, 145g in weight, 3,000mAh removable battery and SD card slot. “LG Stylus 2 provides both the big screen and premium notetaking functions of a premium large phone at a price of a mid-tier phone,” explained Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “This device is another example of our commitment to the mass-tier segment where there is so much opportunity for growth and creativity.”

As mentioned, LG is also reportedly working on an LG G5 flagship, to which details still remain blurry. Nonetheless, the unannounced device supposedly showed up on a Dubai website for around $800. The post was initially spotted by Phone Arena but it has been taken down already. The LG G5 is also expected to make an appearance in the MWC 2016.
