As reported yesterday, Xbox Live Gold members will get to play “The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited” for free this weekend. They are also given a chance to buy it at a discounted price. How can Sony lag behind, then? The company is offering a free online multiplayer PS4 game to all its fans.

As soon as Xbox announced that it will be offering a free game to Xbox Live Gold membership holders, Sony made a similar kind of announcement about a free PS4 game on its blog. Here is what the company wrote: “Call up your friends, grab your DualShock 4, and get ready for some multiplayer gaming action this weekend. We’re bringing back free online multiplayer to all PS4 owners starting this Friday, courtesy of PlayStation Plus.” Sony’s free online multiplayer PS4 game offer begins on December 11, Friday at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time. You will be able to gang up and enjoy this game till December 13, Sunday. The offer will end at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

Free PS4 game: how to get started

To get access to your free multiplayer PS4 game, log on to PlayStation Network during the period mentioned above. Launch a multiplayer game and start playing with your group. Yes, it is as simple as that.

PlayStation 4 is reported to be the most popular console among gamers. Xbox is not much behind, though. This has given birth to cutthroat competition between the two, which is leading to frequent offers, deals and discounts. The gaming industry knows how much Xbox is supporting its Gold Live members by coming up with exclusive offers. Even the weekend offer is for Gold members. Sony went one step further and wrote in its post, “There’s no membership commitment required to try out online multiplayer during this period.” Smart move, isn’t it?
