What's This?

After the success Star Wars: The Force Awakens received when it modified its release date to December, Pirates of the Caribbean 5, or “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” followed suit and set their release date to May 26, 2017.

Disney initially lodged the release on July 7, 2017, and made it earlier – the latest intel spoilers have revealed for the said movie. With the latest installment of the franchise mark the end of Captain Jack Sparrow’s journey?

From what we know so far, Johnny Depp has reprised his role as the notorious Captain Jack Sparrow, as was reflected in a promotional image revealed over a year ago. While filming in Australia’s Gold Coast, the actor, and his wife faced legal troubles when they allegedly smuggled their dogs to the country. Fortunately, the incident warranted a nearer release date for the movie which proved that the lead actor’s personal discrepancies did not affect the movie after all.

However, reports indicate that the fifth installment for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise may be the last fans will see Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. According to a spokesman of the film, the movie experienced a delay in filming last March when Depp encountered an accident wherein he had to fly to the U.S. for a hand surgery. He allegedly had to insert a pin into his finger to remedy the effects of the said off-set accident. Due to the incident, the 400-packed production crew had to sit back and relax for nearly two weeks and only resumed filming upon Depp’s recuperation.

This incident hinted that Depp’s state is vulnerable and that the production of additional installments of the franchise greatly depends on the actor’s well-being. In fact, it has been reported that the success primarily relied on the actor’s acting abilities and that the role he plays would be nearly impossible to be reprised by another actor.

In other news, it was revealed that Depp along with Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush will reprise their roles as Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, and Captain Hector Barbossa, respectively. Newly added cast members for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales cast include Javier Bardem, to play the supernatural pirate antagonist Captain Salazar, whose quest is to kill every pirate at sea including Sparrow, and Brenton Thwaites as Will Turner’s son who is on a quest to reunite with his father.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5, or Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, will release this May 26, 2017. Will this mark the end of Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow? Will Captain Salazar be the one to put an end to the notorious pirate?
