PES 2017 a.k.a. Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 has finally gotten a firm release date. In a press release, Konami revealed details regarding the game’s release in multiple regions as well as platforms.

The game will be released starting with North Americas on September 13 and the United Kingdom on September 15. Release dates for the South American and Asian markets are still vague, however.

According to Forbes, the PS4 and Xbox One versions will retail for $59.99 while the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will retail for $39.99. The September 13 release date for PES 2017 gives it an edge over its main competition FIFA 17.

Over the years, PES has gained significant ground over its competitor in terms of quality. And with the release 2 weeks ahead of FIFA 17, Konami seems to be betting on thirsty virtual soccer fans to drive up sales.

While the game is 2 weeks ahead, the September release date will also coincide with a torrent of sports video game releases. Aside from FIFA 17, NBA 2k17, NHL 17, and NASCAR Heat Evolution also chose September as their release date.

Despite the saturation of sports video games on its release, they could still rake in decent chunk of change. With the World Cup only two years away, enthusiasm for soccer is increasing with each passing day.

That being said, FIFA 17 is bringing out the big guns. Being the first in the series to use the Frostbite Game Engine. Created by EA for first person shooters, it was later expanded to include other genres.

Frostbite features improvement in gameplay as well detailed spectators as well as changing weather effects. These might just make gamers think twice before buying PES 2017. Especially considering that the release dates are only separated by a matter of weeks.
