With how “Person of Interest” Season 5 Finale went, “Person Of Interest” spinoff is definitely a possibility!

‘Person Of Interest’ Series Finale

CBS wrapped up one of its most beloved shows, “Person Of Interest” with a bit of a cliffhanger, something that none of the fans were expecting to see since it had been officially announced that Season 5 was the final installment in the series.

After an emotional death of John Reese, everyone resumed their old lives… more or less. Finch went back to live with his lady love, Fusco was seen taking a breather as he recovered from his stab wounds and Shaw walks off into the sunset with Bear by her side. “Person Of Interest” Season 5 finale would have ended fine in here.

However, her relaxing walk is interrupted by a familiar ring of a payphone. She picks up the phone and smiles an all-knowing smile. What does this mean?

Though it was not clear what the smile meant, creator Jonah Nolan has elaborated on the final scene in an interview with TVLine, which suggests the possibility of a spinoff!

“I think [the smile] is much about hearing Root’s voice [on the phone]… We had a moment between them at the end, dialogue in that moment with Sarah on the phone, and it just didn’t “fit.” At that point, “the train was running,” the main score was going, and it felt like it stepped on the moment. But the clear implication is that that relationship continues in this new form — and that the franchise continues,” said Nolan. Did he hint a “Person Of Interest” spinoff?

‘Person Of Interest’ Spinoff

Even Michael Emerson, who plays Harold Finch on “Person of Interest” has agreed to return for another season or a spinoff if one was made in future, but he has a few conditions.

“If they said to me, ‘We want Person of Interest to keep going but we’re only going to do 10 or 12 [episodes],’ I’d say, ‘Sign me up,” said Emerson in an interview with Cinema Blend..

He clarified, “But I can’t do 22 again. I think people always expect me to be broken up about things coming to an end, but we were so tired in December, I couldn’t even have imagined coming back after the new year and shooting more.”
