“Person of Interest” is gearing up for its season 5 finale, which is, unfortunately, its series finale, too. The creators of the show have promised an emotional ending, which will be both unanticipated as well as fitting for the series.
POI Season 5 Finale
The finale episode is titled “Return 0,” in which all characters reunite for the last time to bring down Samaritan for good. Here is the synopsis of the finale episode, according to CarterMatt:
“Finch, Reese, Fusco and Shaw embark on one last mission to prevent Samaritan from destroying The Machine and cementing its hold over mankind, on the series finale.”
There are a number of loose ends to tie up, and with no indication of a possible continuation or spinoff in the horizon, season 5 finale is where all the questions are supposed to be answered. The road to the answers, however, will not be an easy one, as the main characters will be intensely challenged.
‘Person Of Interest’ Series Finale
Executive producer and one of the creators of POI Jonathan Nolan teased in an interview with Deadline that episode 13 of the fifth season will “revisit relationships that we never got a chance to get to before,” leading to “more of an emotional finale.” He added that “it didn’t quite end exactly as we anticipated;” however, “the body count is the same.”
Does that mean there would be more tears than bloodshed in the final battle of The Machine versus Samaritan?
Nolan wistfully goes on to say that the creators “would have loved to have done more season.”
“Regardless of the characters, it’s something I can see another incarnation of someday,” he said.
However, as an afterthought, he added, “I think by the time the bloodbath of the finale is over you might have different thoughts.”
“Person of Interest” season 5/ series finale will air on CBS on June 21.
