Paula Deen Fires Social Media Manager After Photo Tweet Controversy
Paula Deen is in hot soup after her tweet that featured a picture of her son with brown face. Now, she has poured the soup over her social media manager. As per an E! Online report, the former chef of Food Network has fired her social media manager from the post.
The tweet was posted on Tuesday, and according to the star, she had nothing to do with it. The photo was tweeted and subsequently deleted, but in the meantime, it has created a lot of criticism against the star. People found the photo insensitive and racist, and that disturbed the star to such an extent that she fired her social media manager.
The tweet showed Bobby Deen, son of Paula, in costume as Desi Arnaz’s of Ricky Ricardo. The chef was wearing a costume of Lucille Ball from “Love Lucy.” The picture was taken in 2011.
A representative of Paula replied to E! Online, saying, “Paula Deen’s Social Media Manager posted a picture this morning of Paula and Bobby Deen dressed in costume as Lucy and Ricky, from ‘I Love Lucy.’ This photograph is from a Halloween episode of Paula’s Best Dishes that aired in 2011.”
The representative also mentioned, “Paula immediately had this picture taken down as soon as she saw the post and apologizes to all who were offended. As such, Paula Deen Ventures has terminated their relationship with this Social Media Manager.”
The issue has sparked a lot of controversies against the chef, but she and her son are silent on it.
It was quoted by a report that she was “born 60 years ago when America’s South had schools that were segregated, different bathrooms, different restaurants and Americans rode in different parts of the bus. This is not today. To be clear Ms. Deen does not find acceptable the use of this term under any circumstance by anyone nor condone any form of racism or discrimination.”
