Outlander Season 3 Cast & Spoilers: Sam Heughan Sacrificing Fitness For Older Jamie Fraser Role?
Outlander Season 3 is in the making phase and fans can expect to see an older Jamie Fraser in the upcoming season. So what is Sam Heughan doing to look the age he will be playing in Season 3? According to the actor, growing fat might be of help.
“I’m thinking about getting really fat,” he said at a screening of Star Trek Beyond on Monday, as quoted by Vulture. “I’m thinking eating a lot and not working out would be really good.” However, it was immediately clear that the star is simply cracking a joke.
“Do we really want to see that?” Heughan added quickly.
Outlander Season 2 ended with a glimpse of Fraser’s love-interest Claire, but the viewers are still in the dark about how the years have impacted her husband. According to Heughan, Outlander Season 3 won’t be about what his appearance is but what he has become without Claire, the People reported.
“It’s less about his appearance and more about who he is without Claire,” he said. “It’s going to be a completely different show.”
He added, “Next year’s stuff is probably the most interesting, in a way. We’ve been setting it up, setting the stage, introducing these characters, and now it goes into new, different worlds.”
The final episode of the Season 2 wrapped up with the heart-breaking episode “Dragonfly in Amber,” in which the main protagonists Jamie and Claire ended up being separated by two centuries. The Vanity Fair reported that the third season will be a rendition of Diana Gabaldon’s Voyager, the third novel in the Outlander series.
As per the novel, Claire will return to the 18th century looking for her husband after learning that he survived the Battle of Culloden. Though most of the Outlander Season 3 is being shot in Scotland, the producers are also considering other exotic locations to recreate the incidents from the novel.
In the third season, Jamie and Claire will also be seen sailing, which was a matter of great excitement for show runner Ronald Moore for a long time.
“I can’t wait to get out to sea,” Moore said last summer as quoted by CinemaBlend. “I want to do the whole sea chase; that whole section is really going to be fun.”
