OnePlus One owners will not be able to update their devices to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, thanks to the Smartisan OS custom ROM. On top of this, Google has confirmed the release and name of the Android 7.0 N series that promises to bring excellent features to the current OS system.

OnePlus One Android Custom ROM

The custom ROM came from popular Chinese custom ROM developers. It is based on the current version of the Android Marshmallow OS, offering updates, security patches, improved performance, double tap to wake features, battery life improvements, and a whole range of value-added features.

According to International Business Times, the new Smartisan OS Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow custom ROM is only compatible with OnePlus One aka Bacon models. If the firmware is installed on other devices, the unit may be at risk of getting bricked. To check for the right model, simply go to Settings >> About phone >> Model Number. It is essential that the device is rooted.
