One Direction’s Zayn Malik Reveals Real Reason For Leaving The Band—A Solo Contract
One Direction Zayn Malik never really wanted to be “a normal 22-year-old” who could relax and enjoy some privacy. The truth is, he wants to perform solo and make a name for himself.
Earlier, Malik disclosed the real reason behind leaving One Direction.
“I guess I never explained why I left, it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who I really am,” Malik’s tweet was re-tweeted almost 174,000 times and favorite close to 210,000. His followers are more than 15.1 million.
Supporting his tweet was another post, this time a photo of himself signing a contract with RCA Records. The photo was captioned with hashtag #REALME.
Simon Cowell, his creator, of course, corroborated his tweet and congratulated his talent and tweeted that they have been working on the goal for a while.
1D—as the boy band is called—made four albums which all made to top charts in most mainstream markets. The group composed of five members who have English and Irish descent.
On March 25, One Direction announced Malik was leaving the band. “My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band,” said the English artist Malik.
“I’d like to apologize to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-yar-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight,” Malik continued.
Malik’s revelation on Twitter garnered support from fans. A particular reply came from @TUMMYKISSES who said, “He’s been rising since the day he started. So proud of him.”
