First, it was Zayn Malik, then Harry Styles, now it is Liam Payne’s turn to leave One Direction. Is it already over for the London-based English-Irish boy band?


And can Liam Payne do as well as Zayn Malik with a solo music career?

Just before the week ended, the 22-year-old singer and songwriter shocked the 1D nation with one announcement that disappoints and saddens their fans.

On Thursday, the England-born artist came out to announce that he has already signed a deal as a solo artist, CBS Local’s B96 revealed.

“Happy to have signed to @CapitolUK,” Liam Payne tweeted. “They have an amazing history of artists, I hope I can follow in their footsteps.”

It can be recalled that Zayn Malik was the first member to leave the group to go on with a solo career, Harry Styles then followed suit and tried his luck at acting.

Considering this, the announcement of the third member to move to a different direction might have broken the hearts of their loyal followers, thus, he posted another message.

“One direction will always be my home and family but I’m very excited to see what this chapter brings,” Liam Payne wrote.

As the news site posted the breaking news on Twitter, the hashtag #OneDirectionIsOverParty immediately became a trending topic as fans aired their views.

One fan even described the situation as a funeral, as if trying to say that One Direction’s death has finally come after six years of staying together.

Meanwhile, another loyalist of the group commented that they still cannot break up since they have not sung “If I Could Fly” live yet.

Amid this latest announcement from Liam Payne, Irish entertainment manager Louis Walsh surmised that “One Direction are FINISHED as another star goes solo,” Mirror UK reported.

“They made an awful lot of money but it’s over now for them and who’s going to have the solo career,” he said. “I think Niall will do really well and Harry.”
