What's This?

Are you among the ones who had pre-ordered their Oculus Rift headset? Have you been waiting to get the headset and try it as soon as possible? Here is good news along with bad news for Oculus Rift lovers. Let us start with the not-so-good news first. The shipping of virutal reality headsets is delayed.

Why is Oculus Rift shipment delayed? Due to “unexpected component shortage” said the Facebook Unit as reported by The Wall Street Journal. No details have been given about the component or when will the company get the stock of whatever parts are missing. Now comes the good news. Let us first have look at Brandan Iribe, Oculus CEO’s tweet. Informing customers about delay, he tweeted, “First set of Rifts are going out slower than we orig estimated, so we’re giving free shipping for all pre-orders, including international.”

Yes, you read it right. Oculis Rift pre-orders will now be shipped absolutely free. The best part is that this applies even to the international orders. The company has also sent out emails to the customers. The email reads, “We’ve been working through an unexpected component shortage, and unfortunately, that issue has impacted the original shipping estimates for some early customers. We’re working hard to get up-to-date ship windows, and you should expect to see your order status updated on oculus.com by Tuesday, April 12th.”

Replying to the CEO’s tweet when a customer once again asked if he will have to pay for the shipping as the date has been changed, Brandan Iribe said, “if you ordered between Jan and end of day April 1 Pacific Time time, your shipping is free!” When another customer informed the CEO that he has not yet received any email via Twitter, the CEO confirmed that he will as “they’re (emails) still going out.” Hopefully, the Oculus Rift will start shipping soon.
