Kristen Stewart had talked about her sexuality but refused to box it with a label. Whether straight or gay, the actress said “just do your thing.”

Kristen Stewart talks about sexuality

Speaking exclusively with the Nylon magazine, the actress whose recent film is “American Ultra,” said she does not find it necessary to define her sexuality.

“If you feel like you really want to define yourself, and you have the ability to articulate those parameters and that in itself defines you, then do it,” Stewart said.

“I am an actress, man. I live in the fucking ambiguity of this life and I love it. I don’t feel like it would be true for me to be like, ‘I’m coming out!,” the actress went about saying.

Stewart added that she thinks more people will be gender fluid in the coming years, saying “I think in three or four years, there are going to be a whole lot more people who don’t think it’s necessary to figure out if you’re gay or straight. It’s like, just do your thing.”

Kristen Stewart on fashion

Stewart’s refusal to box herself with labels went beyond her objection of becoming a fashion victim. Hence, Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel allowed her to have her way, cutting and snipping clothes she wore for a photoshoot.

“You don’t want your clothes to wear you,” she said.

“He [Lagerfeld] lets me chop dresses, he lets me steal a belt from that dress and wrap it around another…. I’m really into the performance aspect of it, but I still have to make it my own. I don’t want to feel like I’m wearing a costume,” Stewart said of becoming Chanel’s latest endorser.

Kristen Stewart and her girlfriend Alicia Cargile

The curiosity about Stewart’s sexuality started when her mother confirmed her relationship with visual director Alicia Cargile. Speaking with the Sunday Mirror, Jules Stewart said she is very much accepting of Stewart’s new-found relationship.

“What’s not to be accepting about her now having a girlfriend? She’s happy. She’s my daughter, I’m just her mom so she knows I would accept her choices,” Jules told Sunday Mirror.

“I’ve met Kristen’s new girlfriend, I like her. What’s not to accept? She’s a lovely girl,” Jules said of Cargile.

“I feel like people need to be free to love whoever they want. I accept my daughter loves women and men. It’s OK to be who you are in my world. We all choose our friends so we should be free to choose our lovers,” Jules said.

Yup I agree with Kristen on her point about sexuality and fluidity and that in the not so distant future (esp for women) that fluidity will become more prevalent and perhaps the norm.

Also contrary to the taboo-supported tradition of heterosexuality “as the natural norm”, I’d bet dollars to donuts that actually sexual connections/behaviors started out on a varied spectrum with no taboos. As Kristen says “just do your thing”, as happens frequently in other mammal species.

After all, it was only the boys club invention of PRIVATE PROPERTY that required them to devise controls over the female’s body and her progeny, thereby requiring the invention of male/female marriage and hetero dedicated females. In order to pass his wealth/property down to HIS child the boys needed to know for sure that her child was his child, so her body became his property too and he controlled it via a structure of laws and traditions he designed.

Of course NATURE’S WAY is for a woman to control property and pass it down to her child, she always knows if it’s her child. No need for external superficial controls to be sure of relationship between mother and child. Oh well…
