Nina Dobrev Joining ‘The Originals’ After Causing ‘The Vampire Diaries’ To Dip in Ratings?
Nina Dobrev may be thinking of starting her television career all over again. Will she join “The Vampire Diaries” again? Not really. There are now speculations that she is thinking about joining “The Originals.”Advertisement
Dobrev once revealed that she chose to quit television to pursue her career in movies. Taking to her Instagram account back in 2015, the actress told her fans that spending six years as Elena was already enough for her. “I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years, I got the journey of a lifetime,” she said. She left on the sixth season of “The Vampire Diaries.”
While Dobrev was able to grab some movie roles, her career is not shining as much as she would have liked, Celebrity Dirty Laundry pointed out. This may be the reason she is considering joining “The Originals,” the spinoff series of “The Vampire Diaries.” Rumors have it that she will be playing a doppelganger in the series.
Celeb Dirty Laundry claimed that if Dobrev joins “The Originals,” the TV series might benefit. Since “The Originals” and “The Vampire Diaries” were moved to to Friday nights, the ratings for both suffered. If Dobrev comes in, some of her fans might start watching “The Originals.” Moreover, “The Vampire Diaries,” which is on a timeslot before “The Originals,” might also increase its viewership.
It seems that saving “the Vampire Diaries” is in the hands of Dobrev now. Ironically, Ian Somerhalder is reportedly blaming Dobrev for the show’s dip in ratings and possible cancellation. He allegedly said that because she was a major character of the show, departing from it naturally affected the ratings.
Rumors have it too that Dobrev did not really leave the show to focus on movies. Instead, she cannot stand seeing her ex boyfriend, Somerhalder happily married to another cast of the show, Nikki Reed.
On her part, Dobrev already once shared that she is happy for her co-stars. “They look happy and I am happy and so I don’t see why there should be a problem with that. The drama is in the media, it’s not with us. But of course, we’re on a teen drama show, everyone’s going to look for drama,” she said to E Online.
