Nike pays homage to the armed forces with the upcoming release of the Kobe 11 Elite “Black Horse.” The rough and tough performance basketball sneakers will hit online shelves this weekend.
The Kobe 11 Elite “Black Horse” features military colors on its new and improved Flyknit upper. Black adorns the toe box and midfoot area while rough green is on the heel. The four stitch marks on the left heel, which symbolize Kobe’s actual surgery scars, are tinted in team red.
The Nike swooshes on the medial and lateral sides of each shoe glow in the dark. Meanwhile, floor grip is covered by a gum rubber outsole, Sneaker Whorez reported.
Flat black laces run through Flywire lace loops, which are neatly tucked underneath the Flyknit upper. Support comes from the fit of the shoe.
Would-be consumers are advised to go true to size for maximum support and lockdown. However, NYJumpman23 noted that Kobe’s eleventh signature model fits a bit narrow. Wide-footers may want to go up half a size.
The Kobe 11 Elite is equipped with a full-length drop-in Lunarlon midsole that comes with a rectangular Zoom unit in the heel. The forefoot midsole contains hexagonal foam pads which are inspired by the Nike Free technology featured on the company’s running models.
The hexagonal foam pads in the forefoot provide a responsive low to the ground feel. Contrastingly, the rectangular Zoom unit in the heel delivers reliable impact protection.
The Kobe 11 Elite works best for players who are quick on their feet, but need extra cushioning in the heel. Its “Black Horse” colorway will debut on September 17. Nike indicated that the shoe will be available on the SNKRS app for the retail price of $220.
