Dubbed as “Pure Platinum,” the upcoming Flyknit Racer features White, Cool Grey and Pure Platinum along its woven upper. Digital camo print adorns the heel for added detailing.
The forefoot area of the Phylon midsole contains a Zoom Air unit, which provides adequate impact protection during long runs. Flywire lace loops strap the foot all the way down the midsole.
Hes Kicks noted that the Flyknit upper is breathable, lightweight and will mold to the wearer’s foot shape. He advised runners to go true to size if they prefer putting on thick socks.
Nike unveiled its patented Flyknit technology back in February 2012. After debuting on the Flyknit Racer, the cross-stitched material has since been featured on Nike’s training, soccer and basketball line.
The popular shoe company reported via HypeBeast.com that the use of Flyknit has reduced waste by up to 60 percent. Its production is more eco-friendly than conventional cut and sew footwear.
In four years, Flyknit has reduced over 3.5 million pounds of waste. To put that in perspective, the excess materials could be used to make 2.5 million regulation-size basketballs.
As for the Flyknit Racer, it’s wearability goes beyond the red rubber track. It can also be worn casually. “These look great on the pin roll denim as well,” said sneaker enthusiast Woo Hooligan. “A very well-fitted denim would look great with these.”
The Flyknit Racer has already released in the Blackout, Multicolor, Volt and Total Orange colorways earlier this year. The “Pure Platinum” version will drop on October 14. A pair will set you back $150 on the SNKRS app.
