Nick Cave’s Son Dies From Injuries After Falling From Cliff
Nick Cave’s 15-year-old-son died after falling from a cliff in Brighton, according to Sussex Police.
Arthur Cave suffered life-threatening injuries from the fall. He was found on the underpass of Ovingdean Gap at 6 p.m. BST on Tuesday.
In a statement, Nick and his wife, Susie Bick, said, “Our son Arthur died on Tuesday evening. He was our beautiful, happy loving boy.
“We ask that we be given the privacy our family needs to grieve at this difficult time.”
Arthur was transported to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton but died from his injuries.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious,” a spokesman said.
Nick, Bick and Arthur’s twin Earl Cave visited the cliff, as reported by The Daily Mail.
Reporter Ben Leo from The Argus newspaper in Brighton wrote, “We were just speaking to friends and teachers and so on who were leaving flowers and then a black Mini pulled up and Nick stayed in the car initially. Nick’s wife Susie and Arthur’s brother Earl got out of the car with flowers and a note and walked over to the spot where he fell.
“Nick briefly got out to hurry Sue and Earl up I think. It was all pretty brief. They looked devastated as you can probably understand.”
As reported by BBC, Arthur was on top of the cliff with a friend. The circumstances surrounding his death are unknown as of yet.
Arthur’s friends say he was a “really, really happy boy.”
Kimye Hajisabagh, one of his friends, said, “I’m going to miss him so much. I can’t believe it. It’s horrible.”
Celebrities from the music world also posted their condolences on Twitter.
According to CNN, Australian born Nick is recognized as the frontman of the alternative rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. He has also composed music for films like The Road and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, while also acting in “Wings of Desire” and “Johnny Suede.”
Arthur and Earl made an appearance in the 2014 documentary about their father, “20,000 Days on Earth.”
