Following the release of his first ingle since he started his solo career, Niall Horan is expected to continuously live a busy life as he works on his new album.
It can be recalled that his former band, One Direction, has been in hiatus right after they launched their last album together, “Made in the A.M.,” in November last year.
As a result, each of its members went on to build their respective careers as solo artists, except for Louis Tomlinson who has never been reported to have signed a deal with a recording company.
It can be noted, though, that Niall Horan is the last one who entered into a contract with a music giant, while Zayn Malik was the first to do so. The other members are Liam Payne and Harry Styles.
With the 23-year-old Irish singer-songwriter launching his first single, he inked an agreement with US label Capitol Records, BBC revealed.
Asked why he kept the project under wraps until it was finally released on Friday, the former One Direction member simply noted that, “I didn’t want anyone to know.”
“I wanted to keep it a secret until it was out,” Niall Horan shared with Greg James of BBC Radio 1.
Called “This Town,” the young singer dished that his new single actually has a “double meaning,” apart from the common interpretation that the lyrics talk about reminiscing his childhood sweetheart.
“If you’re from a small town you’ll know there’s always one girl who, when you go back home, you always see them out and about in bars and stuff like that,” Niall Horan explained. “The other meaning was about the town itself.”
Meanwhile, the singer divulged that he will surely have an album next year, as he teased that he has been doing it already, however, “I haven’t finished it yet”.
In the meantime, Rolling Stone hinted that Niall Horan was so happy to learn that fans have remained by his side.
“Thank you to all the One Direction fans for your love and support as always,” he noted in a statement. “I’m looking forward to the next part of this journey together.”
With Niall Horan finally launching a career away from the shadows of his former bandmates via his new single “This Town,” would he be as successful as One Direction?
