NFL News: New York Giants’ Jason Pierre-Paul Underwent New Surgery, Misses Part Of Thumb
Pierre-Paul suffered the injury during the July 4 fireworks and the extent of his injury is much worse than what was thought.
Pierre-Paul is missing his entire index finger and the tip of his thumb. The condition of his hand led to increased pessimism in the Giants’ camp regarding his prognosis.
The Giants think-tank has ruled Pierre-Paul out for 5-6 weeks already. And if his hand doesn’t heal by that time, the management will consider rescinding his $14.81 million franchise tender.
On Wednesday Pierre-Paul posted a picture of his hand in Instagram, which shows the outline of the current condition of his wounded hand.
“That’s your grabbing hand, to not have an index finger it makes it hard to grab,” former NFL star Hugh Douglas explained, noting how difficult it would be for Paul to play without a finger.
Pierre-Paul and the Giants are in a process of contract impasse. Pierre-Paul turned down a $60 million offer during his injury period. The Giants, however, shall put Paul in the list of those physically unable to perform. That means they do not have to pay him while he’s recovering.
