The moment the New England Patriots were starting to look healthy as Rob Gronkowski returned in style, they received new blows on Sunday night at Houston. Running back LeGarrette Blount and Jonathan Freeny left the field after sustaining injuries during the game against the Texans.
Blount left the field with a hip injury in the second quarter against the Texans. He walked out of the field on his own, but was soon escorted to the locker room. Blount was tackled by Brian Cushing and Jared Crick after rushing 6 yards. He was on the ground and slowly got up. Blount was a having a decent game, he rushed 53 yards for 10 carries. This a big blow for the Patriots, as the team is terribly low in running back depth.
Blount’s return is still questionable.
More bad news for the Patriots’ fans. Jonathan Freeny also left the field with a hand injury. The Patriots ruled the line-backer out in the fourth quarter. Freeny hasn’t registered a tackle yet on the game. Both players went to the locker room for x-rays.
Safety Devin McCourty also left the field with an injured ankle.
