Google has released the March Android 6.0.1 update for Nexus 5X. As with other releases, the Android 6.0.1 update promises several patches including a Cool color temperature toggle which appears to address the yellow screen problem. Is the Nexus 5X update any good?

Google released the Nexus 5X for several months now and since then the phone has received several updates, including the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. The said update reportedly brings some considerable bug fixes and new features.

According to Google’s post on its Nexus Security Bulletin:

“We have released a security update to Nexus devices through an over-the-air (OTA) update as part of our Android Security Bulletin Monthly Release process. The Nexus firmware images have also been released to the Google Developer site. Builds LMY49H or later and Android M with Security Patch Level of March 01, 2016 or later address these issues.”

According to a report from Gotta Be Mobile, one post on Reddit claims that it appears Google has been working on fixes on the Nexus 5X based on user feedback. The update reflects the company’s efforts.

Aside from the said bug fixes, Google also worked on adding features like the Cool color temperature toggle. According to Phone Arena, when users switch on the Cool color temperature toggle, they will see how the display switches to cooler colors. For instance, the publication tested the feature on their Nexus 5X which turned the screen blue-ish or too cold. The reason is because of the display’s calibration by default.

Thus, for users with such display, it is best to switch off the toggle. However, for those with yellow-ish tint displays then turning on the toggle may be a good idea.

People can turn on the feature once they update to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Check Settings then go to About phone, to check for the Android update manually. The build should be MHC19J.
