At least 21 dead and hundreds more missing following an overpass collapse in Kolkata, India. It is believed that as many as 150 people are still trapped under a pile of crashed vehicles and rubble after a long section of a bridge under construction collapsed on Thursday.
According to a report from Associated Press, approximately 100 meters of the overpass came crashing down. According to Fox News, army troops have already been sent it to help with the rescue operations.
Australian man gets mauled by a shark. Brett Connellan, 22, was at Bombo Beach near Kiama in South Wales at night when a shark attacked him. He lost a part of his thigh in the process.
Following the attack, the Daily Telegraph reports that he is now in the intensive care unit of the St. George Hospital. He suffered a serious traumatic injury, but he is now said to be in a stable condition. Connellan also sent a message from his hospital bed saying he wouldn’t want his attack to result in a “shark hunt.”
Three first-graders plotted to kill a classmate through poison. Winterberry Charter School Principal Shanna Mall informed parents about the plot through a letter. She also stated that two students were responsible for bringing the issue to adults’ attention.
According to the letter, the three students “were planning on using the silica gel packets from their lunchtime seaweed to poison and kill another student.” In response to the situation, Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Castro told Alaska Dispatch News that no criminal charges have been filed.
Nonetheless, Principal Mall said, “All three students received significant consequences.”
U.S. continues talks with Russia regarding Syrian airspace. According to the Pentagon, both U.S. and Russian defense officials continued their talks today concerning flight safety as both sides continue to operate in Syria. Following the talks, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook remarked, “The conversation was constructive and the two sides agreed to continue safety discussions in this format in the future.”

When asked whether he liked President Obama or Republican presidential rival Trump more, Cruz’s answered, “If I were in my car and getting ready to reverse, and saw Donald in the backup camera, I’m not confident which pedal I’d push.” Meanwhile, Deadline reports that Trump’s camp is viewing Cruz’s remarks as a death threat.
William Shatner gets sued for $170 million in paternity suit. Peter Sloan, a 59-year-old radio DJ, has filed a civil suit against the actor in Hillsborough County Court. According to a report from Good Morning America, Sloan alleges that Shatner had an affair with his late mother, actress Kathy McNeil, before he was born. He is seeking financial compensation as well as a DNA test to prove that he is Shatner’s son.
