Nancy Reagan passes away at age 94. According to Joanne Drake, a spokesperson for The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Library, the former first lady had died Sunday morning due to a congestive heart failure while at her home in Los Angeles. Mrs. Reagan shall be buried alongside her late husband, former president Ronald Reagan, at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. The public will be given the opportunity to pay her respects prior to her burial. Before she passed, Drake says that Mrs. Reagan had requested for contributions be made to the foundation in lieu of flowers.


Iraq forces prepare to retake Mosul. The Pentagon has confirmed that Iraqi security forces are to mount an assault against ISIS in order to retake the key city of Mosul in Iraq. According to Army Col. Christopher Garver, the Iraqis are planning to make the assault in the coming months. Meanwhile, the coalition forces have been training and arming Iraqi forces who will participate in the operation. In addition, police forces are also being trained to serve as a “hold force” in Iraq to prevent the Islamic State’s resurgence.

Pork getting pulled off the menu throughout German schools in respect to Muslims. A regional arm of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s CDU is busy trying to make sure pork remains available throughout northern Germany. According to a report from DW, a proposal is due to be presented by the CDU to parliament in the coming regional parliamentary session. Recently, schools, nurseries and canteens in the area have decided to pull pork off menus in religious consideration of Muslim children who do not consume them.

In response, CDU parliamentary group leader Daniel Günther said, “The protection of minorities – including for religious reasons – must not mean that the majority is overruled in their free decision by ill-conceived consideration.”

15-year-old ISIS supporter stabs police officer. A young Moroccan girl had been arrested in Germany after stabbing the first police officer who approached her when she went to a German railway station. According to a report from Breitbart, the officer had to be rushed to emergency surgery after being stabbed in the neck . The girl’s attack was reportedly borne out of frustration of not being able to travel to join ISIS.

2-year-old calls 911 when she couldn’t get her pants up. The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office had a unique emergency to respond to. Unbeknownst to her parents, a 2-year-old girl In South Carolina had dialed 911 when she struggled to dress herself up. Following the call, Deputy Martha Lohnes responded to the emergency and helped the little toddler get her pants on. According to the Associated Press, Lohnes said that responding to the call was the best part of her shift.

Lena Dunham hospitalized for ruptured ovarian cysts. A spokeswoman for the “Girls” creator said that Dunham had been taken to the hospital on Saturday to undergo surgery. In a statement to People, Dunham’s spokesperson Cindi Berger said that they are keeping the name of the hospital private. Moreover, she added, “We thank you for you understanding and hope that Lena’s privacy will be respected.”

Last month, Dunham had revealed she was having a tough time dealing with endometriosis. She described it as “a chronic condition that affects approximately 1 in 10 women’s reproductive health.” It is currently unclear how long Dunham will remain in the hospital.
