New York Giants Rumors: Michael Vick To Big Apple As Eli Manning’s Backup?
Several teams are being linked to Michael Vick, including the New York Giants. But will the Giants really make a run at signing the veteran quarterback for the upcoming season?Advertisement
The Giants are focused on their preparation for the upcoming season and are unlikely to make earth-shaking moves at this point. But in the event Vick signs with a team, Bleacher Report NFL analyst Chris Simms that he could land with the Giants.
Simms mentioned that that the Big Apple is one of the best landing spots for Vick. Signing Vick will make headlines — both positive and negative. But according to the NFL analysts, the Giants can deal with it because they already have a popular quarterback in Eli Manning.
“Michael Vick is a polarizing figure,” Simms said. “Some teams don’t want to deal with the media scrutiny and they hype of all of it, but they got Eli Manning, he is the man there.”
New York Giants Best Landing Spot For Vick?
Manning is expected to start for the Giants unless something unexpected happens before Week 1 of the 2016 NFL season. But according to Simms, signing Vick makes sense for the Giants because he could be a perfect backup to Manning. He said that the Giants should feel worried about their backup quarterback situation.
Ryan Nassib is tipped to become the No. 2 quarterback for the Giants in the upcoming season. However, the 26-year-old failed to impress in their preseason game against the Miami Dolphins.
Nassib completed just seven of his 15 passes for 75 yards with no touchdown against two interceptions. The NFL analyst thinks the Giants should improve their quarterback rotation.
“If you watched Ryan Nassib play in preseason game No. 1 against the Dolphins, you got to be a little worried about your backup quarterback situation,” Simms added. He quickly added that aside from the Giants, the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams are ideal landing spots for the 36-year-old.
Vick, who completed 40-of-66 passes for 371 yards and two touchdowns in five games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, recently told The Rich Eisen Show that he wants to sign with the Dallas Cowboys. However, it appears that Cowboys are ready to roll with Tony Romo and Dak Prescott as their top two quarterbacks.
