New Star Wars Movie Second To ‘Jurassic World’ As It Awaits China Opening

The new “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” movie has opened to various theaters in the U.S., UK and the rest of the world. It is currently setting and breaking records as it awaits to be shown in China.


Ticket sales for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” have been up throughout the weekend till Sunday with sales totaling as much as $517 million worldwide. Meanwhile, the latest Star Wars franchise also broke box office records in the U.S. and Canada with ticket sales through Sunday amounting to $238 million. For the moment, “Star Wars” box office record is second to “Jurassic World.” But that may only be until the film opens in cinemas across China in a few weeks. “Jurassic World” ended up hauling in $525 million worldwide with $208.8 million in the U.S. and Canada.

Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012 and has since worked coming up with the latest “Star Wars” film franchise. Meanwhile, the film’s cast also toured around the world aboard the “Star Wars” plane, to meet and greet fans in Tokyo, London, Seoul, Mexico City and Sydney.

According to a report from CNBC, Disney has plans to release four more “Star Wars” films through 2019. Meanwhile, there will also be more “Star Wars” presence in its various U.S. theme parks and merchandise. In fact, visitors can readily experience the “Season of the Force” at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
