New Android 7.0 Nougat, Android Marshmallow Release Update For Sony Xperia M4 Aqua
Google is preparing to release the Android 7.0 Nougat, but not all OEMs have completed their rollout of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Specifically, Sony devices like the Xperia M4 series are reportedly in line for the said update.Advertisement
Android Nougat Update
Google has already confirmed the name and release of the Android 7.0 Nougat. Experts believe that it should be a matter of time before Google releases the update, specifically sometime next month. The Android 7.0 Nougat Developer Preview 5 is now available with OTA images. David Burke also released an official blog post about the matter, which means the official version is just around the corner.
“As we close in on the public rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat to devices later this summer, today we’re releasing Developer Preview 5, the last milestone of this preview series. Last month’s Developer Preview included the final APIs for Nougat; this preview gives developers the near-final system updates for all of the supported preview devices, helping you get your app ready for consumers,” Burke, the VP of Engineering, said.
According to the post, the preview includes:
- System images for Nexus and other preview devices
- An emulator that users can work with for final testing of apps to ensure they are ready
- The final N APIs (API level 24) and latest system behaviors and UI
- The latest bug fixes and optimizations across the system and in preinstalled apps
Sony M4 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update
As if to catch up to the said update, Sony has extended the roll out of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its Xperia M4 Aqua and M4 Aqua Dual devices. Specifically, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware is available for devices via the new build number 26.3.A.0.131.
The software is available throughout selected regions for a majority of the Xperia M4 Aqua variants. However, users may have to wait for more update, as the Xperia Blog noted a number of people confirming that the update lacks adoptable storage.
