According to The Verge, people will have more Netflix and chill time now that the company has added another original series to its threshold: “The Get Down” by Baz Luhrmann and Shawn Ryan. This upcoming series is a 1970’s-based musical/drama which will feature “a lot of disco, a lot of clothes-on thrusting, a few guns, and frustration.”
In other news, Rolling Stone reports that a brand new trailer was released by Netflix on “The Get Down” that showcases a wide array of young musicians, dancers, and graffiti artists who reign from the Bronx during the 70’s era. In fact, the series would feature hip-hop, punk, and disco altogether.
The trailer opens with, “The pale-faced media tells us we’re all going to hell. But maybe we just the first ones to light the fire. I’m trying to snuff it out, but that’s like oxygen to a flame.”
The cast of the all-new series comprises of Herizen Guardiola, Jimmy Smits, Shameik Moore, Justice Smith, and harness the skills of the well-renowned DJ Grandmaster Flash, also known as Mamoudou Athie.
There will be more Netflix and chill for fans when the company announces the official release of The Get Down later this year. However, it was already hinted that the original series would premiere in 2016.
