Fans of “NCIS: New Orleans” are still mourning after their favorite agent Brody left the show. Is the series sliding downhill in terms of ratings due to Brody’s absence?
It is no secret that Special Agent Meredith Brody, played by Zoe McLellan, was the soul of Pride’s team in “NCIS: New Orleans,” and her absence is haunting loyal fans of the show.
Brody was an exceptional detective, and her intuitions failed her miserably last season when she fell in love with Homeland Security John Russo.
‘NCIS: New Orleans’ Season 3
Russo turned out to be a mole, the reveal of which caused Brody to withdraw from the team and exit from the show to prevent her team members from getting compromised.
This is what happened in the onscreen story. However, according to sources like Morning Ledger, McLellan might have left the show because she was refused a raise by the producers of the show.
There are also rumors that the actress simply wanted to spend more time with her son, whose custody she lost against her husband, JP Gillain.
However, none of the rumors have been confirmed or denied by either the producer or the actress since none of them have released any official statement.
Meanwhile, CBS is keeping a close eye on the ratings of the show, lest it drops post-Brody.
Concerns for the ratings of the show have mainly been raised due to the poor reception of Agent Brody’s replacement. Not only do the fans continue to pine for Brody, even Pride’s team is less than enthusiastic about the new addition.
Agent Tammy Gregorio, played by talented actress Vanessa Ferlito, is the new entrance and she already struggling to fill the big shoes that Brody has left behind.
Also, it does not help that her character is not at all similar to Brody. She seems to be hiding some dark secret that might lead her to be despised by her team more than she already is.
So far, the ratings are holding strong, reports TV By Numbers, with more than 10.5 million viewers on the second week of its new season. But that might be because fans are still hoping that their favorite Brody will return to the show.
There are a lot of episodes still left to air and only time will tell what kind of adverse effect Brody’s departure has been on “NCIS: New Orleans.”
Will the producers of the show consider bringing Brody back for a cameo to make sure that ratings do not waver?
