The New Orleans Pelicans are still reluctant to trade Ryan Anderson for Rudy Gay. With a month to go before the trade deadlines, the Pelicans’ management rejected a trade with Sacramento Kings which included Anderson and Gay.
Rather, the Pelicans want to retain Ryan Anderson. Perhaps they are eyeing a greater return for him from the future trade market. Anderson is considered as a Kevin Love in the making, and the Pels are loving it. Anderson is also on the wish lists of several other teams. The Pelicans are cherishing it. They want to hold on as of now.
This makes Rudy Gay available in the market. Need a forward? The Kings are already taking calls from interested parties. The Pels were actually searching for help in the wings. The 29-year-old Gay is more a proven scorer capable of creating his own shots and playing both forward positions. He is currently on a $13.3 million deal next season and has a $14.2 million player option for the 2017-18 season.
The Pels are looking for something different than that. So, whether or not the trade is on hold rather than rejected, time will tell.
