Nerlens Noel, the Sixers big man, faces an uncertain future in Philadelphia, and could be shipped to Houston Rockets in the near future, per several reports.
Earlier this week, Noel expressed his frustration about Philadelphia’s current frontcourt rotation.
Noel will have to share minutes with Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor, Dario Saric and rookie Ben Simmons in the frontcourt.
And Noel realizes that at least one or two of those players would be better off getting traded.
NBA Rumors: Joel Embiid Still Not Ready For Comeback?
Nerlens Noel gone from Philly?
Prior to the NBA Draft, Sixers GM Bryan Colangelo and coach Brett Brown made it crystal clear that the team wasn’t opposed to trading Okafor and/or Noel.
Unfortunately for the team, they couldn’t come to terms with any suitors, especially the Boston Celtics, who were reportedly prepared to offer the No.3 pick for both Okafor and Noel.
Noel isn’t the only one who thinks Sixers need to make drastic moves.
Almost every NBA analyst is of the opinion that Sixers would be better off trading some of their big men.
Earlier in August, Fox Sports suggested a possible three-way trade between the Sixers, the Houston Rockets and the Phoenix Suns.
The trade (approved by ESPN’s trade machine) would send Noel to Houston, Brandon Knight and Archie Goodwin to Philadelphia and a haul of K.J. McDaniels, Clint Capela, a first round pick and a second round pick to Phoenix.
On paper, that’s a pretty solid trade since the Sixers are desperate for a quality point guard, a void that can be filled by Knight.
The Rockets are still looking for an efficient rim protector, a role that Noel can fill.
And the Suns are looking to trade either Eric Bledsoe or Brandon Knight since they are facing a backcourt logjam similar to Philadelphia’s frontcourt logjam.
At this stage, all these scenarios are just speculation but the Sixers are seemingly on the verge of finding Nerlens Noel a new home.
