The possibility of Kevin Durant signing with the Los Angeles Lakers is high, according to ESPN.

Stephen Smith of the ESPN mentioned the chances of the Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star to land at Los Angeles. Smith also mentioned Russell Westbrook, Durant’s teammate, who may also don Lakers colors.

Durant is set to become a free agent this summer. Durant grew up in Washington and was linked to the Wizards earlier.

“Keep in mind this, one of the biggest reasons I’m told, that Kevin Durant may have the Lakers at the top of his list, is because the Lakers have been led to believe, by whom specifically I do not know, but the Lakers have been led to believe that it is a very good chance that the following year Russell Westbrook is coming,” Smith pointed out in the “Mason and Ireland” show.

Westbrook hails from Los Angeles and will become a free agent a year later than Durant in 2017.

“Make no doubt about it, Russell Westbrook doesn’t have a problem being in L.A.” Smith also added.

With Kobe Bryant to retire after this season, the Lakers will have enough cap space to lure Durant. There are also chances of Durant re-signing with Thunder, but will he step in the shoes of Kobe Bryant?
