NBA Trade Rumors: James Harden Desperate For Dwight Howard Exit
Houston Rockets superstar James Harden is desperately hoping for teammate Dwight Howard to be traded before the trade deadline on Thursday, per latest NBA Trade Rumors.Advertisement
According to a NBA.com report, Howard and Harden began developing a rocky relationship after the Rockets were knocked out by the Portland Trailblazers in the first round of the 2013-14 NBA playoffs. Harden and Howard never got over that Damian Lillard dagger in Game 6.
“Howard and Harden have been an oil-and-water mix since they came together for the 2013-14 season. It was only days after Damian Lillard’s 3-point dagger eliminated them in the first round of their first playoff series together when both were sending out messages and maneuvering to get the other one traded,” revealed the shocking report.
Shocking turn of events…
This comes as a huge surprise since Harden was instrumental in recruiting Howard to Houston Rockets from the Los Angeles Lakers. Truth be told, Harden and Howard made Houston relevant for the first time since the days of Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. However, nobody foresaw such an ugly break-up especially after the Rockets qualified for the Western Conference Finals last season.
This season, the Rockets (27-28) are clinging to the ninth seed in the Western Conference and risk missing the postseason. Howard has received criticism for the team’s failures. However, he was always playing second-fiddle especially since the 2014 regular season.
Another school of thought is that Howard was unhappy about the firing of coach Kevin McHale, which was primarily a decision triggered by Harden’s meetings with GM Daryl Morey. The question is, at what point do Houston Rockets wake up and blame the shift to the Beard?
Howard is almost guaranteed to be traded before today’s deadline. For the sake of Houston fans, here’s hoping that Harden can get his act together and steer his team to the playoffs.
