NBA Trade Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins Wants Out? USA Basketball Star Blasts Front Office

DeMarcus Cousins admitted this week that he doesn’t understand what the Sacramento Kings are doing. He was referring to the front office’s decision to select Greek center Georgios Papagiannis in this year’s Rookie Draft.

The Kings now have four centers, namely Cousins, Papagiannis, Willie Cauley-Stein and Kosta Koufos. Boogie has no idea why the Kings took another big man, instead of addressing other deficiencies in the roster.

The Sacramento Bee on Monday caught up with Cousins during Team USA’s practice session at Mendenhall Center in Las Vegas. The mercurial center was asked to comment on the team’s decision to get bigger and younger by drafting Papagiannis and Kentucky power forward Skal Labissiere.

“I do my job. I can’t control that,” he said. “I really don’t understand what’s going on. I just control what I can control.”

Cousins sparked controversy last month when he hinted his displeasure with the Kings’ draft choices. Just moments after the Kings selected Papagiannis with the 13th pick, Cousins posted the words “Lord give me the strength” on Twitter.

Boogie later explained that his tweet was taken out of context. He was merely alluding to a “hot sculpting class” he took that day, as per ESPN’s Ian Begley.

A quick Google search will tell you that hot sculpting could be one of three things: a less abrasive alternative to liposuction, a method of making pottery or a type of yoga exercise. Cousins was likely referring to the last one. However, NBA observers have trouble believing that he was doing yoga on the same night the Kings were busy selecting rookies.

Cousins should be commended for picking his words wisely to avoid another tussle with the Kings front office. He could have lambasted the team for trading away their eighth pick to draft a player who was projected to be a late first-round prospect and played the same position as him.

But then again, why would he? He was just thinking about his hot sculpting class.
