NBA Trade Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins for Kevin Love Win-Win Deal for Cavaliers, Kings?
DeMarcus Cousins and Kevin Love hold contrasting states with their respective NBA teams at the moment and such has brought up curious scenarios for the two star forwards.Advertisement
Trading places feasible?
Cousins has been seen as someone pretty tough to handle for the Sacramento Kings, leading many to speculate on whether team owner Vivek Ranadive and company can control the temperamental power forward.
On the other end, Love may have savored his first NBA title, but it goes without saying that he was hardly a factor in the 2016 NBA Finals. The stars for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the finals were obviously LeBron James and Kyrie Irving with Love struggling to make a difference.
It marks the second year that Love has been criticized for his ability to fit in. Regardless, Cavs general manager Daniel Griffin mentioned on ESPN that he plans to make minimal changes for next season. Love is likely to be kept but ‘never say never’.
What are the chances of Cousins for Love trade?
Seeing the state of both Cousins and Love, a trade could make sense. Love could return to his starring role with the Kings, while Cousins can take on a backup role and do his bruising work for coach Tyronn Lue.
The Kings have repeatedly claimed that Cousins is their guy contrary to recent NBA trade rumors. However, seeing that the team has seen four coaches fired and the team not getting anywhere, Ranadive and company may have finally realized that Cousins is not the ‘chosen one’ to lead the Kings.
Change is Good
A change of scenery could be good for Cousins, someone that John Calipari believes is MVP caliber according to Fox Sports. He could do that by doing a bit of everything — scoring, rebounding, blocking and assisting.
But the challenge is not on how Cousins plays but more on how he can be controlled cites Hoops Habit. With James and Irving, he could be put in check. Failure to do so could be detrimental to his NBA future.
On the other end, Love could get his game going with the Kings. He is a low post threat though his defense has been questioned. The player swap could be feasible though it may require the injection of other players to sweeten the package for both teams.
