NBA Trade News: Tim Connelly Agrees To Sign Multi-Year Extension With Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets have agreed to a contract extension with Tim Connelly, the team announced on Tuesday. Nuggets President Josh Kroenke is eager to retain Connelly and his entire stuff on a multi-year extension.Advertisement
Connelly replaced Masai Ujiri as Nuggets’ General Manager in 2013. Ujiri is currently with the Toronto Raptors.
The Denver front office is working to reshape its roster, and they want Connelly to contribute in the job. Connelly’s entire team, including assistant general manager Arturas Karnishovas, are set to return on a new deal.
Connelly, though, revealed that the extension was unexpected.
“I believe your contract is done when it’s done, so it’s not something I pursued,” he said after the team announced the extension. “It’s something [team president] Josh [Kroenke] pleasantly surprised us with.”
“We’re excited and honored by this opportunity to continue what we have started here in Denver,” Connelly said in a statement on Tuesday. “We have a locker room full of dedicated players and staff led by head coach Michael Malone.”
Connelly is in his third year in Denver. He spent the previous three years in the New Orleans Pelicans as assistant general manager.
