NBA Trade News: Lance Stephenson, Josh Smith In Clippers’ Trade-Off List
The Los Angeles Clippers are eyeing a trade for Lance Stephenson and Josh Smith in the market. The think tank feels both guys are misfits in their roster.Advertisement
Stephenson could be traded right now, but for Smith, the Clippers will have to wait till December 15. The Clippers have already tested the trade market for both players, according to sources.
“There is not much of a market for them,” an NBA executive said on Tuesday. “They are buyout candidates. Maybe Lance goes back to Indiana, you never know. You won’t get back much for them.”
Both guys are talented. But the problem is that there isn’t much response in the trade market for Stephenson and Smith. So the Clippers may have to retain them. “They are talented, but when you add people like that it does affect the chemistry of their team. I don’t think they will be traded. It’s a tough thing to do because they didn’t have a lot of takers beforehand,” said another front-office expert from the Clippers.
But recently, the team management is yet to move much on the issue because of injury problems in their roster. Stephenson averaged 5.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 19 minutes in 19 games this season. He was traded by the Charlotte Hornets.
The Clipper are also looking for trade options for point guard Jamal Crawford since off-season.
