What's This?

Who is the leading rookie of this season’s NBA? Undoubtedly Jahlil Okafor of Philadelphia 76ers. Despite his team’s miserable 0-15 start, Okafor has shown tremendous consistency by scoring 18 points per game.

And the No 3 draft pick is now at the center of trade rumors. Los Angeles Lakers is going through a lean patch this regular season. Their gamble with D’Angelo Russell didn’t work, too. The Lakers are thinking to boost their roster by making some relevant changes. That makes Lakers management keen on signing Jahlil Okafor, a steady performer.

Chad Ford of ESPN described Okafor’s potential. “He’s a low-post monster – not only with his back to the basket, but also taking his guy off the dribble from the top of the elbow.”

But would the two teams consider swapping players? According to Ford, we may have to wait for a few months.

Roy Hibbert remains to be signed. The Lakers are also eyeing Kevin Durant. Okafor’s inclusion in the roster would completely transform the Lakers. One must remember Jordan Clarkson is in good form.

“D’Angelo Russell has been a tough fit in L.A. The Lakers flipped from Okafor to Russell the night of the draft. Would the two teams consider swapping the two players? That would effectively be a draft-night trade, a few months later,” Ford pointed out.
