NBA Trade News: Lakers Eyeing DeMar DeRozan To Replace Kobe Bryant
Masai Ujiri is not happy with DeMar DeRozan’s maximum projected salary and has clearly mentioned that the Raptors won’t hold extension talks with him. DeRozan is about to enter free agency, and the Los Angeles Lakers are keen to bet on him in a proposed trade.Advertisement
Kobe Bryant will retire after this season. The Lakers are eyeing a promising star to fill up the void. And in this regard, DeRozan, currently named the best player of the Eastern Conference for last week’s performance, is a suitable trade option.
DeRozan is a would-be All-Star. He can handle the pressure with his maturity. The Lakers are also relying on their most consistent player of the season so far, 23-year-old Jordan Clarkson. The Lakers can get other guys from the Raptors like Bismack Biyombo and Lucas Noguiera in the proposed trade.
Clarkson is drawing huge trade interests, but the Lakers are interested in retaining him. No way Los Angeles could land Kevin Durant. But the trade would be difficult if the Raptors ask for Clarkson. The Filipino-American has averaged 15.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in 31.5 minutes a night in 22 games. But his back-court combination with D’Angelo Russell didn’t work well. Will the Lakers risk shipping him out?
