Ryan Hollins was recently waived by the Washington Wizards. Memphis was looking for a backup for their Spanish center Marc Gasol, and experienced Hollins can play that role suitably.
Previously, Hollins also featured in the Grizzlies‘ training camp during this pre-season. Hollins has a guaranteed deal for the entire season. But his 2016-17 contract is non-guaranteed.
The seven-footer free agent featured in ten NBA seasons. He signed for the Wizards earlier this month before being waived on Wednesday, as reported by the Morning News USA. He made a strong impression during the Grizzlies’ training camp in October.
Russ Smith had a fully guaranteed contract. He posted 1.5 points in 4.4 minutes per game in 15 games with the Grizzlies this season. Smith is only in his second NBA season after completion of a four-year stand-out collegiate career for University of Louisville.
