Durant is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer. ESPN’s Chris Broussard hinted that the Warriors might chase the Oklahoma star at SportsCenter. To land the two-time scoring champions in Golden State, the Warriors have to compromise Harrison Barnes and Aussie big-man Andrew Bogut in free agency.
“When you talk to executives, a name that will shock people is Golden State,” Broussard explained. “People have to remember with the cap going up to $90 million or even higher, just about everyone is going to have cap room.”
“Golden State would have to let Harrison Barnes go in free agency and probably have to trade Andrew Bogut. But they would have the room to go and get Kevin Durant.”
The Warriors are looking to form a big three combination in offense: MVP Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green. Experts are of the opinion that Durant gels well with Steve Kerr’s strategy. Moreover, Durant would love to join a team that has a positive chance of clinching the title.
