The 26-1 Golden State Warriors are in the trade news for the first time. The defending champions have made Channing Frye a potential trade target, according to reports.
The Warriors bench are often struggling to score when MVP Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are off the floor. Marreese Speights has struggled to find his rhythm so far. The Warriors now look at the trade market.
That’s where Channing Frye makes sense. The Golden State are looking for a second stretch four, which can provide scoring punch. The franchise’s front office is studying the trade market, according to sources. The Warriors had shown interest in Frye during the 2014 summer before he finally signed for the Orlando Magic. Frye was also eager to land in Golden State.
This season, Zach Lowe reported that Frye could have been obtained at a cheaper rate. The Orlando Magic are also interested in moving him as he only played for limited minutes till November. He has a four-year, $32 million contract which is important for the trade at both ends.
Bur Frye is a terrific three-point shooter, posting 38.8% from beyond the arc in his NBA career. This season, he has shot 44 percent from beyond the arc.
Frye remains relevant as a Warriors’ trade target.
