NBA Trade News: Dwight Howard Could Land In New York Knicks In Three-Team Deal
Disgruntled Houston Rockets star center Dwight Howard could land in the New York Knicks after a three-team deal. The third party involved in this proposed trade is the New Orleans Pelicans.Advertisement
Howard is the cause behind the Rocket’s locker room trouble. His ego clash with All-Star James Harden has surfaced. The Rockets are going through a lean patch despite having ambitions of playing the Conference finals and the NBA title clash. In such situation, the Rockets management is eager to move Howard.
The New York Knicks and the New Orleans Pelicans are also struggling in this edition of the league. And they need to make roster-shaking trades. Big money is expected to move around. The Knicks need a big star like Dwight Howard.
The trade could be ratified before the February deadline. Omer Asik and Ryan Anderson will be landing in Houston from the Pelicans. The Rockets would also acquire Jose Calderon and Derrick Williams from the New York Knicks.
The three-team trade is expected to benefit all sides in different ways. The Pelicans will get Robin Lopez and Kyle O’Quinn from the Knicks. Big man Lopez could pair Anthony Davis under the basket. KJ McDaniels and Terrence Jones will also land in New Orleans to help them in rotation.
And the Knicks front-court would be boosted by center Howard’s inclusion along with Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis.
And despite all controversies at Houston, Howard is a fantastic player. Very recently, he surpassed the milestone of 15,000 points and 10,000 rebounds, becoming the fourth youngest player in NBA history to achieve such feat.
